Life》A Year Down the Line… So Far, So Good?

”you don’t know what you can do unless you try”- Rahinat Al-Hassan.

Hi guys!!! How has January been so far? Mine has been quite eventful, learning the odds and steadily ticking my goals already.

Y’all may not know this, but December last year marked my one year of blogging. I didn’t celebrate it cos I hadn’t really ticked alot from my blog goals but today, I will like to share my experience(s) as a blogger so far, what I’ve learnt, what I’m learning and what I am not understanding.

A year down the line and I can tell you I am still ignorant of some really vital information that concerns blogging. I still read tip and tricks, visit other blogs, ask questions and repeat these process. You never become a pro as far as I know. Every day is a day to learn something new. The more you know, the more you understand.

It doesn’t happen in a day. As a blogger, you need a lot of patience. A year may be enough time for one bloggger to have lots of recognistion and other benefits, yours may take a little longer. Nothing is wrong with your craft. It’s not just your crown to wear yet.  Just relax and take it a step at a time. I had to learn to stop beating myself up about other bloggers success and focus on building mine instead.

I am so guilty of this but I have learnt how important it is to be consistent in what you do because that is what it takes to become excellent.  I now know better, to do better.

I started this blog while in my finals  so I haven’t gotten around to meeting other bloggers yet but this year, I am looking forward to. Networking in general is a great way to spread your brand to those interested in your craft and to attract brands/ collaboration. As a blogger, I’ve learnt that you cannot hide away from meeting people. It’s very necessary if you need your blog to grow. All thanks to TheBloggerPoint for being a great help.

This is very essential. I just learnt the importance of this recently. Plan ahead of time. If possible, create a timetable as to how you’ll like your blogposts to be or look like. Take pictures before the scheduled dates, write down your plan for your blog, and how you intend to execute them. It goes a long way in helping you stay consistent and organised.

Few months into this, it’s normal for me to want to imitate the style and manner with which some of the bloggers I admire do their thing and alot of times, I found “someone else” in those articles and that wasn’t satisfying at all.  How long do you think you can pretend to be someone else? Not for long honestly. No matter how trashy you think you are, your are better off taking credit for what you put in effort than what you stole or an idea you stole. You will become better subsequently. It’s fine to read and get guides and inspiration but never be someone else; Be you.  You are different and that’s what is important.

The Stare.

I don’t think I will ever understand why fellow Nigerians especially gaze at you lostfully while taking pictures (lol). It makes me soooooo uncomfortable and shy (you have to believe me when I say I’m the “shy-est” person you’ll ever know) but I’m guessing this is one thing I’ll deal with for a long long time being a fashion and lifestyle blogger.

Profit Making(Ad-Sense)

Monetizing my blog is of course a priority for the year to come but as of now, I’m just about enjoying writing to you guys, sharing my fashion ideas and learning more because the more I read about ad sense and the rest, the confused I get. When I am ready for that bridge,  I’ll cross it.

Sometimes you just don’t get it, sometimes you may be overwhelmed,  Sometimes you feel like you are under pressure to deliver. I have learnt that in those times, take a break but do not give up. One cannot coman go and die for nothing.

Well… so far so good I’d say. Do you agree? I look forward to bettering my skills because now, I am about learning and loving what I’m doing so no pressure. I cannot say this is all I have learnt but these are few of the ones I remember.

Outfit Details

Dress: my tailor (hi Jacob!)

Shades: gifted

Bag: roadside sellers.

Turban: One mans shop

By the way, what do you think of my outfit that has been interrupting your read?? Is this something you can wear? I love the hand crafted bag which of course is a trend right now so I am unapologetically slaying in mine.

Until I write to you again, stay out of trouble,  Rather loves you.

What did you think of this post? Was it inspiring? What kind of posts will you like me to introduce to you?
